You will be responsible for developing innovative and transformative product concepts and turning them into the world’s best products.

You’ll be responsible for design leadership and execution on projects. You will be leading and inspiring LUNAR design advancement and culture and preparing presentations for clients. You’ll leverage your experience and skills to give form to and solve problems for a variety of products in consumer, technology, medical products and packaging design. You’ll also help to promote and maintain the LUNAR brand, our approach and our accomplishments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design
  • 5-8 years of experience overall and/or experience in a similar position
  • Management of the design process activities, drive decisions and assist in resource planning
  • Unique understanding of global trends in design and CMF (Color, Materials and Finishes)
  • Inspiring technical skills in 2D and 3D programs; exceptional visual design skills
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and engineering principles
  • Strong knowledge of user experience design processes and principles

  • Unique ideation process and sketching style, form/expression exploration, mock-up and experimentation

LUNAR is looking for an exceptionally talented Engineering Intern who is eager to contribute and learn while working alongside our mechanical engineering, design and interaction design teams. Engineering at LUNAR demands exceptional mechanical conceptualization, analysis and visualization skills. Also essential are flawless communication skills (spoken, written and sketched), creative thinking, sound judgment, organization, diplomacy, thoroughness, professionalism, humor, and an uncanny desire to do great work.

As an Engineering Intern, you will gain first-hand experience designing innovative products with our mechanical engineering, design, and interaction design teams. Interns may interact directly with clients, contribute to concept, layout and part development, create prototypes, perform stress analysis, develop in-house procedures and tools, or study new technologies for future use. Summer internships are full-time for 3-6 months, with end dates flexible depending on your availability. You will be responsible for all of your living arrangements while working at our SF studio.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering with a graduation date between December 2018 - June 2019
  • Experience developing product concepts, layouts and detail designs
  • Experience with Pro/Engineer and/or SolidWorks, with knowledge and sensitivity to complex surfacing and master modeling
  • Exceptional mechanical conceptualization, analysis and visualization skills
  • Ability to perform stress/strain analysis and tolerance analysis
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, ideally both high and low volume
  • Sensitivity to design with a strong desire to work closely with industrial designers and fight to realize their vision
  • Overall desire to learn, ask questions, take risks and learn from mistakes
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

LUNAR is looking for a Design Researcher who will be responsible for defining, leading, and executing qualitative research projects, and synthesizing learnings into actionable recommendations.

Design research provides the insights that inspire, inform, and validate design.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2-6 years of experience overall and/or experience in a similar position
  • Familiarity with qualitative research methods and curiosity about how quantitative research methods can integrate into the design research agenda
  • Must have experience leading projects from start to finish (research planning to insights)
  • Ability to make a recommendation on methodology, scope a project, draft a screener to recruit research participants, and conduct ethnographic observations and contextual interviews
  • Experience managing research engagements in client-facing roles, particularly in the realm of physical products and services
  • Curious and agile mind that easily makes connections between diverse industries and experiences
  • Good feel for storytelling, strong presentation skills, and experience working collaboratively with designers
  • Ability to lead through influence rather than chain of command
  • Tolerance for ambiguity and openness to feedback from design, strategy, and other disciplines
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally
