	Lunar Speaks at 50 Años de Diseño Industrial / Redefiniendo Diseño (Redefining Design) Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City October 17– 20, 2005 Three designers from Lunar, Max Yoshimoto, Christophe Koch and Alberto Villarreal, presented at the recent 50 Years of Industrial Design/Redefining Design conference at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. As presented in the literature from the conference, “…one of the leading design firms in North America, Lunar has influenced and participated in the development of key technologies that have created a huge impact in our everyday lives. For this conference, Lunar opens a window to the future of industrial design and explores some of the risks and challenges that we face as a creative industry, and discusses the huge opportunities we have in sharing our knowledge with society.”

	Award-winning designs Lunar recently received two Chicago Athenaeum Good Design Awards for 2005 for the HP Media Center m1070n Photosmart PC and the HP Pavilion a1050y Series PC. More awards.

	The Best Product Designs of 2005 BusinessWeek, July 4, 2005 Lunar’s conceptual MicroMedia Paper has won a silver IDEA award from the Industrial Designers Society of America. Featured in BusinessWeek’s annual showcase of winning products, the MicroMedia Paper exploration predicts how digital media technologies may evolve within a decade. “MicroMedia Paper…enables people who are either unable to learn how to use current digital technologies or lack the financial wherewithal to purchase the required hardware to view digital still images, video and music. MicroMedia Paper’s innovation is in its simplicity and affordability. Its bare bones solution adroitly meets the needs of its intended users.” See the concept.

	The Forward Thinkers 7x7 Magazine, April 2005 7x7 features several of San Francisco's futurist designers in its April 2005 issue. Lunar VP Max Yoshimoto demonstrates Lunar's innovative MicroMedia product concept: photos, music and other digital information on wafer-thin, trading card-sized media. The MicroMedia concept comes out of a long-honored tradition at Lunar to explore future product ideas based on unique and desirable consumer applications featuring technology still in its infancy.

	Having Your Cake Metropolis Magazine, June 2005 Metropolis features Lunar’s 20th anniversary commemoration, a cake plate with a debossed area for the cake slice and a candleholder, which solves the age-old problem of where to put the candle once the song is over. Designed by Lunar’s in-house conceptual team, Moonshine, the plates are manufactured by Sausalito-based Heath Ceramics in chocolate, pistachio and vanilla.

"As one of the top industrial design firms," they wrote, "Lunar Design gives us a taste of what we can expect to see in the upcoming decade." The article highlights Lunar’s MicroMedia Paper as one of the most groundbreaking product concepts to look for in the future.

Lunch Box Outside the Box
New York Times Magazine, November 2004

The New York Times takes a look at products that are designed for kids and, at the same time, are functional from a parent’s point of view. Lunar Design came up with the Tortugo as an answer to the age-old question, “Are we there yet?” This interactive device is a DVD player, digital camera, and scribble pad all in one that will keep the kids entertained while on the road.
