Lunar Design Wraps HP Notebook Surfaces With Graphic Luxury

HP Asks Lunar to Get Personal with the Graphic Aesthetic for Their Fashion Forward Line of HP Notebooks

San Francisco, Calif. (November 15, 2006) -- Lunar Design, a twenty-one year old world leader in creating successful, memorable products for the consumer and medical industries unveils luxurious graphics for HP’s latest line of Pavilion entertainment notebooks, dv2000, dv6000, and dv9000, and the Compaq Presario v3000 and v6000. Lunar created expressive pattern designs for HP’s internal Industrial Design team to develop an innovative surface treatment called HP Imprint.

Hewlett-Packard looked to Lunar to design graphics that appeal to the consumer lifestyle market where desire for luxurious materials and textures now extend to a consumer’s choice in technological products.

Driven to create an effect much like embroidery on clothing, Lunar’s graphics team headed by art director, Becky Brown, designed elegant and iconic patterns that weave and dash across the sleek surfaces, offering consumers a rich personal connection with their notebook computer.

“Modern and expressive, these pattern designs were created to engage the consumer and appeal to their desire for tools that reflect personal style,” said Becky Brown.

The project began with the Imprint graphics, then the design aesthetic was continued onto the screen with the creation of correlating desktop backgrounds. Together the pattern graphics wrap the notebook, creating a visually rich story and assisting the leap from utility to luxury.
