Announcing Lunar Europe Based in Munich, Germany

San Francisco, CA (April, 2007) -- Lunar Design, a twenty two year-old world leader in creating successful, iconic products for the consumer, technology and medical industries announces the opening of their first European office in Munich, Germany.

The opening of the European office now places Lunar on three continents, closer than ever to the world’s leading markets. Lunar is now closer to more centers of innovation, development and manufacturing. Drawing on California’s experimental culture, European sophistication and the vibrant energy and resources of Asia, Lunar creates new possibilities and unique designs that people love.

The Munich office has been opened by seasoned, international designers Roman Gebhard and Matthis Hamann. Both natives of Germany, Gebhard and Hamann have spent time abroad developing their unique perspectives on product design, design strategy and how design creativity makes a difference for consumers and business. They have worked extensively for consumer, technology and medical industries and bring a breadth of experience to this new enterprise.

Gebhard is returning to the Lunar fold after experiences with other internationally respected design firms, including frog design and designafairs, a division of Siemens. His portfolio includes award-winning design work for clients like Sony, Microsoft, HP, Motorola, LG Electronics, GE, Proctor & Gamble, Coca Cola, Xelibriand T-Mobile. He has taught several design workshops at the Design University in Lund, Sweden and holds a bachelor of science degree with honors in product design from Art Center College of Design (Europe) in Switzerland.

Hamann has worked with international design consultancies such as IDEO in Boston and Philips Design in the Netherlands. While at designafairs in Munich, he held a range of positions including design manager for Siemens Mobile and Xelibri, and director of strategy & consulting. He directed and participated in several design programs for international clients such as Mercedes Benz, Philips, Siemens, Xelibri, and Audi. He taught design classes at the Design Academy Offenbach (Germany) and at the University of Applied Science in Munich.
