The Importance of Facial Features

The tactile controls of an electronic, interactive product — buttons, dials and even the “off” switch — form its most recognizable aspects, or “facial features.” Choosing which controls to use and how they appear has an enormous impact on the impact the product makes on first impression.

In this presentation from the Interaction Design Association’s Interaction’10 conference in February, LUNAR’s Gretchen Anderson looks at some well-known products and illuminates best practices for integrating interaction designers, industrial designers, and engineers to make well-informed decisions about a product’s (inter)face.
